Overview
The Indochine Hotel Hoi An believes that responsible travel is a partnership between you as tour operators, travelers and us, the hoteliers in effort to minimise our negative impacts and maximise the connection with the local community and environment.
We want to cater to a new group of travelers: those who are interested in giving back to the communities they have visited. These travelers want to see more than just tourist sights, would like to protect and preserve the local ways of life, environment, and make contributions to those who are in need.
With this approach, we outline here our commitments and how we positively contribute and support sustainable tourism.
Our commitments

- We encourage guests to return key envelops, shuttle bus schedules, factsheets when they are checking-out to be re-used.
- We use chemical in limitation for cleaning rooms, facilities, washing linens amenities and clothes to protect guests and staff heath.
- We keep the surroundings including the garden, river and lakes always clean and purified.
- We encourage guests to visit rather traditional handicraft villages, charity centres, local community than popular tourist attractions; buy rather traditional products than industrial ones to help preserve local life.
- We prefer to buy foods and other products for the hotel operation from the local and trusted suppliers to help local economy and ensure providing secured food to guests.
- We employ local staff and provide them training opportunities
- We pay local taxes in full. Our room and service rates include 10 percen value added tax and 5 percent service charge. We believe our guests have a duty to contribute in this way.

1. Lifestart Foundation Workshop
The non-profit Lifestart Foundation Workshop focuses on creating unique handmade arts/crafts to help support those living in challenging situations in Hoi An, Vietnam.

2. Centre for Street Children
The Center for Street Children feels more like an extended family of boys and girls, aged 8-18, than an orphanage or shelter. The children act like brothers and sisters, and the manager appears more like a mother, greeting them after school and looking after their homework.
Not all the children are from the street. Some are from families too poor to care for them. At the Center they’ll receive food, attention and discipline to prepare them for an independent life and career once they turn 18.
Privately funded, the Center is always grateful to receive visitors and donations. You can help the children practice their English, or check the Center’s wish list for other ways to contribute.
