I am currently staying at this hotel with my family of three for 5 nights--December 22 to December 27. What a fantastic place this is. We got a River View Suite which does have a great view of the river. The river is beautiful and no bad smell comes from it. The beach is only five to seven minutes away on foot and what a beach it is: very wide and pure sand, I am sure for miles in either direction. The staff at this hotel are all kind and helpful. The food is superb, including the breakfast, which is included. Resort fans may prefer a hotel right on the beach, as we always have, but even the hotels "on the beach" in Vietnam, in this area anyway, are a bit off it, as the beach essentially is a public area. We booked the hotel through Expedia, but I wouldn't hesitate to call the hotel and book it directly next time.
We have stayed in Phuket, Langkawi, Saipan, and other resort areas. They are all special in their own way. One big advantage here though is it is far less expensive. The suites have two huge king beds, spaced far apart. A family of 5 to 6 people could stay here easily and comfortably. The Town Hoi An, is too far to walk or even to bike to, for us at least, but a free shuttle is provided several times a day. I did much research before picking this hotel and feel it was certainly the best choice for us! We ate lunch once at the Hoi An Hotel: It was three times more expensive and not nearly as good. So there!!
